T.R. Knight has booked his first post-Grey’s Anatomy gig, returning to live theater in the upcoming production of Jason Robert Brown’s Parade in Los Angeles . Knight will play the lead role of Leo Frank. The production will run at the Mark Taper Forum from September 24 through November 15, 2009.
The Center Theatre Group website description of the play reads: “Based on the true story of Leo Frank, convicted for the murder of 13-year-old Mary Phagan in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1913, Parade recounts the press frenzy and public outrage about Frank’s trial, and his wife’s crusade for justice. Amid religious intolerance, political injustice and racial tension, this stirring Tony Award-winning musical explores the endurance of love and hope against all the odds.”
It has been five years since Knight has tread the boards, having previously appeared onstage in productions including Scattergood, Boy and This Lime Tree Bower. [Playbill]
