Music Notes: Panic at the Disco split, Katherine Jackson will not oversee MJ's estate

- Panic at the Disco will be losing two members — guitarist Ryan Rothman and bassist Jon Walker are leaving to pursue their own project together. Remaining members Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith plan to continue under the band name, and will play their 12 tour dates as openers for Blink 182 later this summer. [SPIN]

- A judge has ruled that Katherine Jackson will not oversee her son Michael Jackson's estate. Attorney John Branca and music executive and friend John McClain will take over. The two of them will be in charge of the estate until Aug. 3, when another hearing is supposed to take place. [NME]

- Bad Lieutenant, the band that formed now that New Order are no more, will release their debut album Oct. 5. The album is called Never Cry Another Tear. Its first single "Sink or Swim" will be out Sept. 21 (you can watch an acoustic performance of the song here). To clarify some information about the new band: while Blur's Alex James and New Order drummer Stephen Morris do play on the album, they're not "official" members. - Aerosmith's Steven Tyler is suffering from an unspecified injury, which has caused the band to postpone their last three shows. [Rolling Stone]

- The Foo Fighers debuted a brand new track, "Wheels," while performing for President Barack Obama and military heroes at the White House on July 4. [NME]

- Fiona Apple will release her first "new" tracks in three years by contributing two new recordings to The Best Is Yet To Come, a compilation that is meant to honor Cy Coleman. Coleman was a composer whose music was largely popularized by Frank Sinatra. Apple's tracks include "Why Try To Change Me Now" and "I Walk A Little Faster." [SPIN]

Music Notes: Pearl Jam on Target, Morrissey to resume tour

Quick Music Notes today, as I'll be out seeing Art Brut perform tonight (review to follow).

- The rumors are true -- Pearl Jam have partnered up with Target. The band's next release is going to come out without a major U.S. label, but it will be released with a group of partners. Target will be the "'big box' retail partner." The band also filmed a Target commercial directed by Cameron Crowe last week. [Billboard]

- Shortly after canceling his UK tour dates, Morrissey will now resume his world tour in Luxembourg on June 5. The singer has plans to reschedule London and Birmingham gigs for July and October. [NME]

- Moz actually relayed the information above via his MySpace page. And he had more news! An 18-track b-sides compilation called Swords will come out in October. [Morrissey MySpace]

- Pavement's Brighten the Corners will be out as a deluxe vinyl reissue on June 23. [Prefix Mag]

Music Notes: David Gahan's cancerous tumor removed, Sigur Ros record next album

- The whole Depeche Mode mystery seems to have been solved. After originally being hospitalized for gastroenteritis a couple of weeks ago, resulting in the cancellation of numerous tour dates, David Gahan has undergone surgery to have a cancerous tumor removed from his bladder. Doctors have ordered the singer to rest until June 8, which is when the band will resume their world tour in Leipzig, Germany. [BBC]

- Sigur Ros have been busy in the studio, working on a follow-up to last year's Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust. The band members have described the currently untitled album as a mellower, more ambient record than Med Sud... Sigur Ros seem to be aiming for a 2010 release date. [NME]

- Dr. Dre will debut some music from his album Detox in a Dr. Pepper commercial that will begin airing June 1. The album itself is expected to come out late in 2009. [Billboard]

- A little shout out to my college town — New Brunswick, New Jersey's Screaming Females opening for The Dead Weather (Jack White's latest project) in July. [TheDeadWeather.com]

Music Notes: Radiohead back in the studio, Blink 182 tickets to cost $20

- Radiohead are back in the studio, toying with ideas for their follow-up to 2007's In Rainbows. Bassist Colin Greenwood told the BBC the band is at the stage "where we've got the big Lego box out and we've tipped it out on the floor and we're looking at all the bits and thinking, 'What next?'" Nigel Godrich, who has worked with the band on every album since 1997's OK Computer, will produce this album as well. [BBC]

- I kind of stopped caring about Blink 182 sometime in high school (even though I've been posting about them), but this is actually a nice thing to hear. The reunited group plans on offering fans $20 tickets. The cost will include fees, taxes and free parking. Props, guys! [NME]

- Sigur Ros frontman Jón “Jónsi” Þór Birgisson has remixed Depeche Mode's "Come Back." The track will appear on Depeche Mode's upcoming single "Peace Out," and only the 7-inch vinyl release. [Sigur-Ros.co.uk]

- Pitchfork reports on an interesting venture by indie record stores. The Coalition of Independent Music Stores has launched ThinkIndie.com. The coalition issued the following statement about this online venture: "Each brick and mortar record store has its own homepage inside the site with its own recommendations, personality and local approach. Once a customer registers with the site, they are assigned to their local store and each time they make a purchase that store is rewarded." Pretty cool idea! Music Notes: Rock the Bells, No Doubt 'deliver' Adam and the Ants cover

- The initial line-up for this year's Rock the Bells, the annual international hip hop festival, is set. Acts will include Nas & Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, The Roots, Common, Big Boi (of Outkast fame), KRS-One, House of Pain featuring La Coka Nostra, Reflection Eternal, Tech N9ne, and more. Dates haven't been announced yet, but the festival will be held in the following cities: Chicago, Toronto, Washington DC, Boston, New York, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Vancouver. - No Doubt will be appearing on the Gossip Girl season finale in May, covering Adam and the Ants' "Stand and Deliver." Personally, I think they did a far better job tackling Talk Talk's "It's My Life." But you can judge for yourself by listening to the player below: [imeem via SPIN]

- The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will appear as musical guests on this week's Saturday Night Live, hosted by heartthrob Zac Efron. [NBC.com]

- Patrick Wolf is set to debut new songs during a May 6 New York show at Le Poisson Rouge. Wolf will be performing acoustic renditions of songs that will be on his upcoming album, due for release sometime in June. [NME]

- Sigur Rós frontman Jón Þór Birgisson, aka Jónsi, is releasing an album with Alex Somers this July. The album will be released under the name Riceboy Sleeps, and will feature nine songs recorded in Iceland. [NME]
