Music Notes: 50 Cent album to drop in September, Alex James to make royal cheese

- 50 Cent's next album, Before I Self Destruct, is set to come out Sept. 29 after a two-year delay. [SPIN]

- Blur's Alex James will be making cheese... for Prince Charles. James took up farming — with a special focus on cheese — during the years that Blur went on hiatus. He will now supply cheese by royal appointment after striking a deal with the prince. The cheese is to be sold through the Dutchy of Cornwall's estate. [NME]

- Uh, apparently Thom Yorke and Kings of Leon are in talks to record new music for New Moon, the sequel to Twilight. [SPIN]

Film News: "Unstoppable" Chris Pine, Silver Screen 50 Cent, and Because There Just Aren't Enough Remakes . . .

- It looks like Chris Pine is ready to capitalize on his newfound Star Trek fame. In addition to treading the boards with Chris Noth in Farragut North at LA's Geffen Playhouse later this month, the new Captain Kirk is in talks to costar with Denzel Washington in a new big screen action drama for Fox. Unstoppable would see Pine playing a rookie train engineer who has to work with with Washington to stop "an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train carrying enough combustible liquids and poisonous gas to wipe out a nearby city." - 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) seems to be taking his crossover to the big screen seriously. In addition to playing opposite Forest Whitaker in an upcoming adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde, 50 Cent is starring in the police corruption drama Caught in the Crossfire with Chris Klein, Adam Rodriguez and Richard T. Jones. 50 Cent "plays a gang-banger who becomes a reluctant informant." 50 and his production partner are also working on a third dramatic film with a starring role for the rapper. [Variety]

[bxA]- Three new costars have been added to the roster of Robert Pattinson's upcoming movie Remember Me, in which he plays a young man traumatized by his brother's suicide and parents' subsequent split. Emilie de Ravin (Lost) will portray a young women who witnessed her mother's death, but uses that trauma as motivation to live life to the fullest. Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper have also joined the cast, and Lena Olin is currently in negotiations. [MTV Movies Blog]

- Mary-Kate Olsen has joined the cast of Beastly as the young woman who puts the curse on Alex Pettyfer's character in a contemporary version of Beauty and the Beast. Olsen joins Vanessa Hugdens, whose leading role in the flick was reported on Pop Wenches in April. [E! Online]

- Speaking of contemporary versions, Emile Hirsch will star in an updated version of Hamlet directed by Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke. [Variety]

- Even more movie remakes have entered the pipeline. Columbia Pictures has commissioned a remake of the 1990 sci-fi action film Total Recall which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone. Kurt Wimmer, whose credits include The Recruit and Salt (Angelina Jolie's upcoming film), will write the screenplay. Meanwhile, Dimension Films has tapped Robot Chicken and Greg the Bunny's Dan Milano to write the script for a remake of 1986's Short Circuit. Evidently "Johnny Number 5" really is alive. Film News: Nicole's a No-Show, Multiple Jekyll & Hydes, Scorsese Tackles Ol' Blue Eyes

- Nicole Kidman has pulled out of Woody Allen's upcoming, untitled movie, citing a scheduling conflict. Allen's film is now scheduled to begin filming this summer on the East Coast; Kidman will be producing and starring in The Rabbit Hole in the UK during that time. Previously it had been announced that Kidman would costar with Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Freida Pinto in Allen's film. [Entertainment Weekly]

- Robert Louis Stevenson's Jekyll and Hyde has become a hot property. In addition to the contemporized version starring Keanu Reeves that was recently announced, Guillermo del Toro is developing his own adaptation. Del Toro's full slate of currently schedule films, however, means that his Jekyll movie is years away from becoming reality. A third bigscreen adaptation helmed by Abel Ferrara has just been announced. Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker will play Dr. Jekyll and rapper 50 Cent will play Mr. Hyde. Yeah, I don't know what to think about that either . . . [Fangoria][Variety]

- Universal Pictures and Mandalay Pictures have annouced that Martin Scorsese will direct and produce the first silver screen biopic about the legendary Frank Sinatra. Simply titled Sinatra, the film is intended to "touch on all phases of Sinatra's life." According to one of the studio execs, Leonardo DiCaprio is "an obvious candidate" to star in the film since he has starred in Scorsese's last four flicks. Any music used in the film will come from Sinatra's original recordings, so the lead actor will not need singing ability. [Variety]

- Tina Fey and Steve Carell will be joined by Ray Liotta, Mila Kunis and Mark Ruffalo in the Fox comedic movie Date Night. Liotta, Kunis and Ruffalo join a cast that also includes Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Taraji P. Henson, Common and Leighton Meester. Filming for Date Night began last month. [Hollywood Reporter]

- Because he wasn't going to be busy enough with half-a-dozen upcoming projects, Hugh Jackman has signed on to star in Unbound Captives alongside Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz and Twilight's Robert Pattinson. Weisz will play a woman "whose husband is killed and her two children kidnapped by a Comanche war party in 1859." Jackman will play the fronstiersman who rescues Weisz' character, and Pattinson will play her son. Madeline Stowe, who penned the script, will also make her directorial debut with Unbound Captives.
