Music Notes: Radiohead release free track, Aerosmith cancel tour

So as I posted late last week, I'm planning on making Music Notes a three-times-a-week thing on this blog now that I have a nutty schedule. I'm hoping I'll be able to stick with it, and I'll keep you all posted.

- Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood confirmed that the band will debut new material at the Reading and Leeds Festivals later this month. He also linked to a free download of a new track, "These Are My Twisted Words." [NME]

- Aerosmith have canceled the remainder of their summer tour. [Brooklyn Vegan]

- Michael Jackson will be buried on Aug. 29, the date that would have marked his 51st birthday. [NME]

- Iggy Pop contributed vocals to a new version of "Oh My God," a track on Ida Maria's Fortress Round My Heart. This new version of the song hits radio this week, and will be available on iTunes starting Aug. 31. Listen to the collaboration here. [SPIN]

Music Notes: Exene Cervenka diagnosed with M.S., M.I.A. goes political again

- Exene Cervenka, co-vocalist for legendary L.A. punk band X, has revealed that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The musician said the following in a statement: "While this diagnosis will most certainly mean some changes for me, personally, it will not affect my commitments to the current X U.S. tour, nor will it affect my solo album that is slated for release this fall on Bloodshot Records. My focus will certainly be on maintaining my health --many people remain strong and continue to live their lives as productively as they had before an MS diagnosis and I plan to be one of those people." - M.I.A. is supporting independent British candidate Jan Jananayagam in the European Parliament elections, to be held June 4 - 7. And so she's offering a free song to Londoners who will do the same. [Pitchfork]

- The Arctic Monkeys have announced that their third (currently untitled) album on August 24 in the UK (so make that the 25th here in the US). The album features ten new songs, and will be available in CD, vinyl and digital download formats. [ArcticMonkeys.com]

- Los Campesinos! are losing their keyboardist-singer Aleks because she plans to "return to her studies." Aw. It's kind of sad, but in a good way. The band is still touring this summer. [Pitchfork]

- Following up on Morrissey touring drama: the singer has rescheduled his canceled UK tour dates. [NME]

- Stellastarr* will embark on a US tour starting July 8 in Boston. The band will release their new album Civilized one day before on July 7. It's the band's first studio album in four years. [NME]

- And in serious music news: Trent Reznor just called Marilyn Manson a malicious, dopey clown. [Prefix Mag]

Music Notes: Free Dinosaur Jr track

- M.I.A. has made TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People List! Check out her write-up (by Spike Jonze) here. John Legend and A.R. Rahman are also among the musicians who made the list. [TIME]

- Interested in hearing new stuff from Dinosaur Jr? Then visit their website, where you can download "I Want You To Know," a track from the band's June 23 album Farm. The download is free. [NME]

- Get your US tour dates for Stellastarr* here. The band will be releasing their first album in four years this summer. [NME]

- Punk label Fat Wreck just released the latest NOFX album for less than $10. According to a statement on its website, the label fully intends to sell all its other albums for prices under $10, and most will be priced under $8. [Prefix Mag]

- Neutral Milk Hotel would like you to save the Paragon Carousel, which happens to be a Massachusetts landmark. [Paste Magazine]

- The "swine flu" has caused tons of concert cancellations in Mexico. But so far, the Jonas Brothers and Metallica still have concerts scheduled for the coming weeks. [Billboard]
