Music Notes: Peter Hook's bass supergroup finishes up debut, ScarJo and Pete Yorn duet

- Freebass, the three-bassist supergroup led by former New Order/Joy Division bassist Peter Hook have completed work on their debut album, which is now being mixed. A new song and some updates regarding the album are available via the group's MySpace page. [Pitchfork]

- Echo and the Bunnymen will release an album, The Fountain, on Oct. 13. The album release will be accompanied by a number of North American tour dates. So far, dates have been announced for Toronto, ON and Oakland and Los Angeles in California. More date will be announced. [NME]

Music Notes: Weezer debut new songs, The Decemberists announce tour dates

Sorry for the delay in Music Notes today... I've got some crazy weeks ahead of me at the moment, so life might delay a couple of posts here and there.

- Weezer debuted new songs at a South Korean festival Sunday night. The two songs are "I'm Your Daddy" and "The Girl Got Hot." Watch them here. Does the band have any of its old spark left? [SPIN]

- The Decemberists have announced a fall tour that will travel through parts of the United States, Canada and England. [Pitchfork]

- Fader is giving away tickets to New Jersey's All Points West festival. I would totally try going, but I'm moving this weekend... so I'll just sit here, reporting this information to you guys. [Fader]

- Arctic Monkeys will stream a live gig online on July 30 at 9 p.m. GMT. They'll showcase tracks from their upcoming album on their website. The gig will also be hosted on NME.com. [NME]

- Mariah Carey, Diddy and Lil Wayne all have albums coming out — and each of these albums will now have delayed release dates. Carey's upcoming Memoirs, originally slated for an Aug. 25 release will now come out Sept. 15. Diddy (Sean Combs) told MTV News his album's been delayed thanks to Jay-Z and Drake. Lil Wayne's album, which had been slated for a June 23 release, is still delayed though a release date has not been confirmed yet. [Billboard]

Music Notes: Police investigate MJ's doctor, Leonard Cohen adds more US tour dates

- Police and federal agents searched the Houston clinic belonging to Michael Jackson's doctor today, looking for evidence of manslaughter. It looks like agents left with a forensic image of a hard drive along with 21 documents. [Associated Press via Yahoo! News]

- Leonard Cohen has announced more US tour dates for October and November. This year has marked the first proper Leonard Cohen US tour in 15 years. [SPIN]

- MGMT will appear on Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3. [Pitchfork]

- Modest Mouse will release an eight-song EP, No One's First, And You're Next, on Aug. 4. [NME]

- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a two-night celebration at New York's Madison Square Garden this October. Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Metallica are on the roster of performers. [SPIN]

Music Notes: Beastie Boy reveals cancer diagnosis, Thom Yorke debuts new song

- Beastie Boy Adam Yauch (aka Adam "MCA" Yauch) revealed that he's being treated for cancer in his parotid (salivary) gland. Yauch revealed this information via a video posted on the band's site. As a result, the band have canceled upcoming tour dates and will push back the release of their next album. In better news, Yauch did say, "The good news is that they did scans of my whole body, and it's only localized in this one area, and it's not in an area that affects my voice, so that's nice." We sincerely wish him the best and hope he gets well soon. [SPIN]

- Thom Yorke debuted a new song ("The Present Tense") while playing the Latitude Festival in the UK this past weekend. Watch video of it here. Yorke treated the crowd to a mix of solo material and Radiohead songs, including fan favorite "True Love Waits" (which was released on the I Might Be Wrong live EP) and the rarity "Follow Me Around," which has never been released on a live or studio album. - Chris Brown has issued a public apology, via his Youtube channel, for beating Rihanna in February. Brown said he did not speak up sooner due to his attorney's advice. He added, "I cannot go into what happened, and most importantly, I'm not going to sit here and make any excuses. Music News: Headliners Added to Voodoo Experience, Virgin Mobile Festival Free in '09, Pixies Want to Record a New Album

- Eminem, the Flaming Lips, Jane's Addiction and Kiss have been added as headliners to the Voodoo Experience festival line up. Over 150 acts are currently scheduled to perform on eight stages spread throughout the city of New Orleans. Other perfomers include Gogol Bordello, Wolfmother, the Pogues, Ween, Mutemath, Alejandro Escovedo and George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic. [Billboard]

- How's this for a deal? This year's ticket price for the 2009 Virgin Mobile Festival is zero, as in free! Virgin Mobile customers and those who have bought tickets to previous Virgin Mobile festivals have gotten first crack at the 35,000 free tickets via an email alert. Starting on June 27, the general public will be able to order free tickets to the event, which has been rechristened the 2009 Virgin Mobile FreeFest, through ticketmaster.com. Ticketmaster will waive convenience fees for those who pick up their tickets at the festival venue in Columbia, MD or the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. Weezer and Blink 182 will headline the August 30th festival. Additional acts include Franz Ferdinand, Public Enemy, Girl Talk, The Bravery and Taking Back Sunday. [Billboard]

- The Pixies are planning to record their first new album since 1991. Pixies' Black Francis has said that he would like the album to tie into a movie, but a stand-alone album might become more appealing if the band continues to play live gigs. [NME.com]

- According to Ray Davies, a new documentary about the Kinks is in the pipeline, but the band doesn't plan to reunite any time soon. [Spinner.com]

- Phish's comeback album will be titled Joy. Phish's Trey Anastasio says that the album "feels more like a live record than a lot of our live records." [Rolling Stone]

Music Notes: Air announce new album, new Blur material is possible

- Air will release their next album Love 2, the follow-up to 2007's Pocket Symphony, on Oct. 6. The band plans to go on the road in 2010. [NME]

- Things are slowly moving ahead for Blur — in addition to prepping for their upcoming headlining shows, the band members are already jamming together and toying with new sounds. However, as guitarist Graham Coxon pointed out, the band won't be playing complete new songs just yet. "We wouldn't want to just sling stuff together to play this summer [at gigs including shows in Manchester and London's Hyde Park]. It wouldn’t be right. We really don't want to put ourselves under any pressure. I think we want to have fun with these gigs and then we'll think about that really," he said. [NME]

- Clear Channel Radio and Front Line Management have collaborated on a project called "artist personal experience" (a.p.e.), allowing artists to produce their own 24-hour online radio stations. Weezer, the Eagles and Christina Aguilera are supposed to kick off their own stations next month. All songs will be chosen by the artists, and there will be moments where their own music will be played alongside exclusive interviews and commentary. Stations will be available through Clear Channel websites, artists' widgets, and the iPhone and Blackberry's iheartradio app. [Paste Magazine]

- In sad news, a dead body was found on Bonnaroo festival grounds Tuesday. Workers found the body of an unidentified white man in his 20s. The body was found in a tent. Police believe he may have been from Alabama. An autopsy is underway. [Pitchfork]

Music Notes: Jay-Z nixes auto-tune, preps deal with Sony

- Don't expect to hear auto-tune on Jay-Z's next album Blueprint 3. Even though Kanye West (who went a little auto-tune crazy on his last album) is the producer, all auto-tune has been dropped from the album. Sweet. [Rolling Stone]

- In related news, Billboard reports that Jay-Z is now very close to signing a deal with Sony's Epic Records, which would allow his albums to get distributed by the label. This is all following last week's announcement that the artist had parted ways with Def Jam. [Billboard]

- Now time for another Jay. Jay Reatard's next album, Watch Me Fall, will come out August 18. The first track, "It Ain't Gonna Save Me," is available online. The album will be the follow-up to 2006's Blood Visions. [Matador Records]

- Morrissey has canceled yet another show due to illness. Heaven knows we're miserable now. [NME]

Music Notes: Wilco album streaming, Gahan recovering from stomach flu

- Wilco's new album is streaming in its entirety on their website. Listeners can listen to the stream in low or high quality. [WilcoWorld.net]

- Following up on yesterday's news about David Gahan: the singer is indeed suffering from a severe bout of stomach flu. As a result, Depeche Mode have canceled gigs in Athens, Greece and Istanbul. Both shows will be rescheduled soon, and fans are being told to hold on to their tickets. [SPIN]

- Even though the album won't be released until Friday, Green Day's latest is probably well on its way to being at the top of the Billboard charts next week. [Billboard]

- First Howling Bells, now Elbow - the latter will be joining Coldplay as an opening act during several North American tour dates this summer. The band will also play some solo dates, and will kick things off with a July 22 show in Los Angeles. [NME]

- And even though you've all probably heard by now, I will end with this item because I'm endlessly entertained by Kanye West's blog. The rapper just went on a tirade against Twitter on his blog, ending with the following: "HEY TWITTER, TAKE THE SO CALLED KANYE WEST TWITTER DOWN NOW .... WHY? ...
