Hough to Get “Loose” with Crawford

According to Julianne Hough’s rep, the Dancing with the Stars pro and country music singer will take on the role of Ariel Moore in the upcoming Footloose remake if the scheduling works out.

Hough was one of many Hollywood starlets – including Miley Cyrus, Hayden Panetierre and Amanda Bynes -- who were rumored to be under consideration for the role.

People’s newly crowned “Hottest Bachelor,” actor Chase Crawford signed on for the lead role of Ren McCormack in May.

Film News: Crawford Brings Home the Bacon with Footloose

It's been a long day, so you're just going to have to forgive the bad Kevin Bacon pun. Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Gossip Girl's Chase Crawford has signed on for the lead role in the long-discussed Footloose film remake. Originally, High School Musical star and tween favorite Zac Efron was attached to the project, but dropped out in March.

Kenny Ortega (High School Musical trilogy, Dirty Dancing) will produce and direct the remake of the 1984 flick that starred Kevin Bacon as the rebellious, dancing Ren McCormack.

Several starlets have auditioned or are rumored to be under consideration for the role of Ariel Moore. Recent rumors have added Miley Cyrus' name to the mix, in additon to Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Dancing With the Stars pro/country music singer Julianne Hough.
