Since Kelly Clarkson said in her blog entry just about everything that needs to be said about Kanye West's behavior at last night's VMA Awards and my eyes are going to get stuck in the back of my head if I roll them anymore while wasting a thought on Lady Gaga's antics (Madonna did it all first and did it much, much better, says this child of the '80s), we're not going to go there. Instead take a look at the new trailer for the upcoming This Is It Michael Jackson documentary and the extended trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, both of which debuted on last night's show. New Vamp Added to the Twilight Cast
More Twilight casting news today with the addition of Jodelle Ferland to the third movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The 14-year-old actress will play a newly turned vampire when filming starts later this month.Despite being a young actress, Ferland has an impressive resume with roles in Silent Hill (2006), Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital (2004) and the upcoming drama Case 39 with Renee Zellweger and Ian McShane. Sci-fi fans will recognize Ferland from memorable guest roles as a young Adria in the Stargate SG1 episode "Flesh and Blood" and a haughty princess in the Stargate Atlantis episode "Harmony." Film News: Pirates 4 Director Ahoy, Twilight Controversy, Theron & Worthington Are Tourists
- Disney is in talks with director Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha) for the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film. While producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp will return to the franchise, previous director Gore Verbinski has chosen to move on to new projects. If a director is confirmed soon, the new film would begin shooting in 2010. [Variety]- Rachelle Lefevre is out as Victoria in the third Twilight film, Eclipse, and will be replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard. Evidently Rachelle and her castmates aren't happy about her dismissal, and Summit Entertainment isn't happy that people know Rachelle isn't happy . . . [E! Online]
- The projects keep rolling in for Hugh Jackman. The Wolverine actor has signed on to portray P.T. Barnum in The Greatest Showman on Earth, an original big screen musical. Jackman "will play the showman with a penchant for hoaxing a gullible public as he creates the three-ring circus that made him famous." Singer/songwriter Mika of "Grace Kelly" fame is in talks to write the music an lyrics. Anne Hathaway is being eyed for the female lead. [Variety]
- Steven Spielberg's next project will be . . . a remake? Spielberg has chosen to tackle a remake of the 1950 film Harvey, in which Jimmy Stewart memorably played a man whose best friend is a 6 1/2-foot-tall invisible rabbit. [Variety]

Comic-Con 2009 Update - Dealers Room
Quickly posting the blog entry that I was just about to complete when the Comic-Con wifi gave me a swift and very hard boot. More to come after I finish going through my photos and videos from today . . .At the first day of this year's San Diego Comic-Con and it feels even more crowded and manic than usual for a con Thursday, mainly because of the immense crowds who are here for the 1:45pm Summit Entertainment panel that will include Twilight and a rumored in-person appearance by both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. I had planned on covering that panel and the other panels in the main hall this morning, but there was no way that anyone who got into that line after 9am was going to get into the hall, despite its large capacity.
Have been exploring the football-field-size dealers room instead, which includes impressive booths/areas for the big movie and TV studios (as expected). More updates to come . . .

Film News: Third Twilight Film Starts Shooting in August; Depp & Burton Team Up for Dark Shadows, Amy Adams in Talks for Boxing Movie
- Good news for Twilight fans: Eclipse, the third installment in the movie franchise, is set to begin production in Vancouver on August 17th. Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) is currently portraying a young Joan Jett in the movie The Runaways. Robert Pattinson is in New York filming his new project, Remember Me, with Emilie de Ravin (Lost). [Production Weekly's Twitter]- Johnny Depp has confirmed that he will reteam with director Tim Burton and producer Richard D. Zanuck for a big screen, Burton version of Dark Shadows, the cult favorite gothic soap opera from the 1960s. "I will be thrilled to work with him [Burton] again on Dark Shadows," said Depp at the LA premiere of his current film, Public Enemies. "I was a big fan of it when I was a kid and I think it is another of those perfect projects for Tim to reimagine." [Entertainment Weekly]
- Amy Adams in talks to costar in The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. The silver screen drama tells the story of boxer "Irish" Micky Ward (Wahlberg) and his succesful struggle to earn the world lightweight championship. Adams "would play a gritty bartender from Massachusetts who ends up dating Wahlberg's character." Bale will portray Ward's half-brother, who helps him on his journey to the championship. [Variety]
- Christina Applegate (most recently of ABC's Samantha Who?) is confirmed to play Drew Barrymore's big sister in the new romantic comedy Going the Distance. Barrymore will costar with Justin Long as a couple in a long-distance relationship. Charlie Day (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) will play Long's friend.[E! Online]
- Michelle Trachtenberg and Jason Lee have signed on to the new Kevin Smith comedy flick A Comedy of Dicks. The movie stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan and is "centered on a pair of cops who track down a stolen baseball card, rescue a Mexican beauty and must deal with gangsters and laundered drug money." Film News: Bruno Crashes Into MTV Movie Awards, Another Alien in the Pipeline
- The MTV Movie Awards were held Sunday night, with sparkly vampire flick Twilight raking in a slew of awards including Best Movie, Best Female Performance (for actress Kristen Stewart), Breakthrough Performance - Male (for actor Robert Pattinson), Best Kiss and Best Fight. High School Musical actors took home two awards: Breakthrough Performance - Female (Ashley Tisdale) and Best Male Performance (Zac Efron). The biggest moment of the night however, was Sacha Baron Cohen (in character as gay fashionista Bruno) dive bombing straight into Eminem's lap while wearing chaps . . . and nothing underneath them. - Tony Scott, brother of Alien director Ridley Scott, has confirmed that 20th Century Fox is making a prequel to the 1979 sci-fi horror classic. In an interview with Collider website after the junket for his new film The Taking of Pelham 123, Tony Scott named Carl Rinsch as the new director and said that he hopes shooting on the film will begin by the end of the year. And that sound you hear? I'm pretty sure it's Pop Wench Joia railing at the heavens against this news . . . [Collider.com]

- Steven Spielberg's 3-D motion-capture film The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn has been slated for a December 23, 2011 US release by Paramount and Sony studios. The 2011 Tintin movie is intended to be the first of a series produced by Spielberg, Peter Jackson and Kathleen Kennedy. Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) will star as the young, world-traveling reporter Tintin. Daniel Craig (playing nemesis Red Rackham), Andy Serkis and Simon Pegg costar. [Hollywood Reporter]
- A few days after Paul Verhoeven signed on to direct The Surrogate, it's been announced that Oscar-winner Halle Berry is in talks to topline the thriller. Berry would be one-half of a couple "who hire a surrogate to carry their child and fnd out mid-term that the surrogate is insane." [Variety]
- Natalie Portman has joined the cast of Your Highness alongside Danny McBride and James Franco. Portman plays a warrior princess and McBride's romantic interest in the film, which "centers on an arrogant, lazy prince (McBride) who must complete a quest to save his father's kingdom.
