Music Notes: Glastonbury lineup, plus some sad news
- The full Glastonbury lineup has been announced, and it is massive. The big headliners are Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, and Blur. Other acts performing during the June festival include Franz Ferdinand, Metric, Jason Mraz, Ray Davies, Art Brut, Black Eyed Peas, Regina Spektor, Fleet Foxes, Lily Allen... and more. Seriously. For more, visit the festival's homepage. [GlastonburyFestivals.co.uk]
- Former Wilco member Jay Bennett, 45, died in his sleep early on Sunday. Bennett left Wilco in 2001, and recently sued the band, claiming that he was owed royalties. Bennett contributed quite a bit to Wilco's catalog — one of these contributions included the song writing credits he shared on nearly every song on their 1999 release Summerteeth. Bennett's cause of death is unknown at this time. [Rolling Stone]
- The Beastie Boys have named their new album — Hot Sauce Committee. It's supposed to come out in September. [Pitchfork]
- Eleven music fans died at a festival held over the weekend in Rabat, Morocco, after a rush to exits caused a fence to collapse. Forty others were injured. The event featured performers like Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder and Kylie Minogue. [SPIN]
- Hundreds gathered to mourn slain rapper Dolla at a service held in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday. [NME]
