RIP Wayne Allwine

Wayne Allwine, the voiceover artist since 1977 for Disney's iconic Mickey Mouse, died on Monday at the age of 62 from complications to diabetes.

Allwine started in the Walt Disney Studios mailroom in 1966 and worked his way up to positions as voice talent and sound effects editor for the studio's film and television productions. During the course of his career Allwine provided Mickey's voice for Disney theme parks, records and video games as well as projects including Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mickey's Christmas Carol and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Allwine is survived by two daughters, three sons, a grandson and his wife, Russi Taylor, who is the voiceover artist for Minnie Mouse and other popular characters. [AFP via Yahoo! News][Disney.com]
