Dom DeLuise, the well-loved actor, comedian and gourmet chef, died Monday night at the age of 75 after a long illness.
DeLuise enjoyed a long acting career spanning the stage, television and film. Perhaps best known for his role in The Cannonball Run and Cannonball Run II, DeLuise also worked with entertainment luminaries including Henry Ford, Doris Day, Mel Brooks and Dean Martin.
The actor's deep-seated love of cooking lead to the release of two successful cookbooks, 1988's Eat This—It Will Make You Feel Better! and 1997's Eat This Too! It'll Also Make You Feel Good.
DeLuise's three sons, Peter, Michael and David, all became actors and appeared with their father in the TV series SeaQuestDSV. Peter also directed his father in the early Stargate SG-1 episode "Urgo," which Peter recently described as his favorite ep because of the opportunity it gave him to work with his father.
