Theater News: Jackman and Craig Broadway Bound This September

Following up on a Pop Wenches post from May, Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig are now confirmed to tread the boards on Broadway this fall in Keith Huff's play A Steady Rain.  The production will mark both the play's and Craig's Broadway debuts.  Craig, best known for his current role as James Bond, has stage credits in London including Angels in America and A Number.  Jackman won a Tony Award in 2004 for his much-lauded performance in the musical The Boy from Oz.

The actors will play two veteran cops whose friendship is tested when a routine domestic disturbance call leads to the death of a young boy.  As more evidence is uncovered, the audience learns which of the officers must bear responsibility for the boy's death.

Previews for A Steady Rain will begin at the Schoenfeld Theater on September 10, with the play opening on September 29.  The production is slated for a 12-week run and the most expensive tickets will top out at $130 each. [Variety]
